On the floor

WHAT DOES A STAGEHAND DO?

A stagehand helps build and strike a production and supports the technical team on the floor. The exact task depends on the schedule and the lead on site.

Load-in and load-out

Unloading trucks and loading them again after the show.

Stage build

Putting stage parts and structures in place.

Backline

Moving and setting up backline and other production equipment.

Running cables

Laying cables and supporting the technical build.

Pushing cases

Getting flight cases and equipment to the right place.

Build and strike

Building up and breaking down under the lead of a crew chief.

When you need them

WHEN DO YOU HIRE STAGEHANDS?

Hire stagehands as soon as you need extra hands for a tight build, strike or changeover on the floor. That can be at concerts and festivals, corporate events and trade fairs, and TV or theatre productions.

Concert or festival

At a concert or festival, stagehands help with load-in, build, changeovers and load-out. Night work and shift work are part of a production’s schedule too.

Corporate event or trade fair

A corporate event or trade fair needs extra help with the stage, set, technical kit or stands. Stagehands work to the briefing and help with the strike as well.

TV or theatre production

On a TV or theatre production the schedule is tight and there is a lot of equipment on the floor. Stagehands support the build and strike under the lead of production.
